The Artwork of Kassandra
Making good music is really hard and takes a lot of time. But writing and recording the music is only the first step. Every song also has to be expressed visually, in order to reach its audience and therefore, I’m really grateful for the beautiful artwork of my little sister Kassandra. I’ve always loved her her artistic skills and it seems that her drawings always seem to fit to my music and to somehow complete my songs.

My little sister Kassandra was always a little bit of a conundrum for me. Being the youngest out of my siblings she probably is also the quietest. Sometimes, I can’t help to compare her to a river that gently but steadily makes it’s way through the world. And just as a river often runs deeper than the bare eye would allow to comprehend, it seems that she probably also has the most talent out of all of us siblings.
Even though she decided to become a Psychologist and not a professional artist, she really has remarkable skills with all types of artistic work ranging from sculpting, to creating architectural structures to drawing and painting.
What is even more suprising though, is that I somehow like all of her work and it profoundly resonates with me. Many of her drawings were created long before I wrote most of my music and nevertheless, they seem to fit perfectly to my songs. Especially the choice of colors and her vibrant compositions seem to invite the new, rather than caressing the old. It seems to me that her drawings never get boring, even though I’ve know them and looked at them for many years now.

Es ist erstaunlich, wieviel Emotionen durch ein einziges Bild ausgedrückt werden können. Es erscheint mir, dass Kassandra die Gabe besitzt die Welt auf die wesentlichen Grundbausteine zu reduzieren und über ihre Bilder besser zu kommunizieren als es über Worte möglich wären. Und manchmal können wichtige Dinge auch nicht in Worte gefasst werden sondern nur gefühlt werden.
Sicher ist jedoch, dass die meisten wesentliche Dinge im Leben viel Zeit brauchen. Und so ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass es lange gedauert bis der Schmetterling, der für mich persönlich so wichtig ist, so entstanden ist, wie er heute zu sehen ist. Von den ersten groben Zeichnungen bis zum fertigen Bild war viel Arbeit notwendig und dies ist wohl auch sinnbildlich zum echten Leben des Schmetterlings zu sehen…
Vieleicht ist es kein Zufall, dass Kassandra in einer Stadt am Fluss lebt. Manchmal führt uns das Leben von selbst in die richtige Richtung. In jedem Fall muss ich immer an sie denken wenn ich an die bunte Stadt am Main mit ihren verwinkelten Gassen und Weinfeldern sehe. Ich bin glücklich, dass sie dort eine Heimat zusammen mit Christian gefunden hat. Christian, der Mann der wenigen Umstände und mit dem Herz am richtigen Fleck.
Manchmal, kann man das Leben nicht vorausplanen. Sicher ist aber, dass Sie noch viele Kunstwerke schaffen, viele Dinge erleben und eigene Erinnerungen sammeln wird. Und sollte sie das Leben auch noch an andere Orte führen, denke ich, dass diese Stadt immer ein Teil ihrer kunterbunten Persönlichkeit bleibt, genauso wie ihre wunderschönen Bilder die ich so gerne mag.
